Singapore Sports School, August 9-12, 2012 — Four young swimmers from the Anglo-Chinese Schools broke two National Under-14 records in time trials conducted at the 8th National Swimming Championships.
Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)’s Brilliant Chua, Dylan Koo and Kevin Ong, and Darren Lim from ACS (Barker Road) teamed up to clock a time of 3 minutes 42.80 seconds in the 4×100 metres freestyle relay on August 11th.
That broke the previous record of 3:50.88 set 11 years ago by Jeffrey Su, Nicholas Teo, Bryan Tay and Thum Bing Ming.
In the same race, Darren led off with an opening leg of 52.87 seconds which bettered his two-day old National Under-14 100m freestyle record of 53.16 sec.
A day later, the same quartet broke the 4x100m medley relay record of 4:07.13, set by Jeremy Tan, Lok Yan Han, Jerryl Yong and Koh Jun Wei in 2009, with a swim of 4:05.55.
Brilliant and Dylan are the holders of the National Under-14 records in the 200m Breaststroke and Butterfly respectively, while Darren holds the Under-14 records in the 50 and 100m Freestyle, and the 50m Butterfly. His 50m Freestyle time is also an Under-17 record.
