Choa Chu Kang Sports Complex, Monday, April 15, 2013 — Ismi Zakiah Binte Kashful Anwar of Singapore Sports School set a new record of 26 seconds in the C Division girls’ 200m final at the 54th National Inter-School Track and Field Championships.
She broke the old record of 26.09s set in 2010 by Shanti Veronica Pereira, then also of Singapore Sports School.
Second place went to Megan Ang of Nanyang Girls’ High School who clocked 26.91s. Iman Fandi, also of Sports School, was just 0.02s behind in third.
Ismi led from start to finish while Megan overtook Iman to win second place.
“I did not expect to break the record. I am very happy,” said Ismi of her new personal best. She felt that her strides that she took around the bend of the track were relatively good.
Ismi now has a new personal goal. “I would want to reach below 26 seconds by the end of this year. If not, by the next year,” she said.
