4x100m Relays (Girls): Sports School sweep B and C Div; RI win A Div gold

Choa Chu Kang Sports Complex, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 — Singapore Sports School swiped the golds for both the B and C Divisions girls’ 4x100m relay finals while Raffles Institution won the A Division 4x100m relay final at the 54th National Schools Track and Field Championships.

In the C Division final, Sports School was first in 51.22s, over a second faster than Nanyang Girls’ High who trailed in second with a 53.06s effort. CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School were third with a 54.30s timing.

Sports School had a clear lead by the time their second runner took the baton.

The C Division 4x100m relay record is 49.67s and was set by a Sports School quartet in 2010.

The top two were closer n the B Division final. Sports School were winners again in 49.45s, but this time they were 0.56s ahead of Nanyang Girls’ High who finished second in 51.01s. Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary were third in 52.87s.

By the time Sports School’s third runner Sarah Nadia handed over to Nur Izlyn for the final leg, it was clear they were going to win it.

Singapore Sports School also holds the record for the B Division 4x100m relay. In 2011, their team clocked 48.22s.

In the A Division category, RI finished first in 50.16s, 0.69s ahead of Hwa Chong Institution who clocked 50.87s. Victoria Junior College came in third with 51.64s.

The A Division 4x100m relay record of 49.40s was set by National Junior College in 2005.
