Bishan Stadium, Thursday, April 25, 2013 — Nanyang and Temasek Primary dominated the 4x100m relay heats as they posting the fastest times at the 54th National Inter-Primary School Track & Field Championships. In addition, Nanyang’s D girls’ team broke the one minute barrier when they lowered the record to 58.97 seconds, down from 1 minute 0.19 seconds set by Gongshang Primary in 2009.
Nanyang was fastest in the D girls’, C girls’ and B Bboys’ event while Temasek Primary was fastest in the D and C boys’ event. Pei Hwa Presbyterian also put in a stellar performance to top the B girls’ qualifying list when they clocked 56.25 seconds, just over 0.3 seconds faster than Nanyang Primary’s 56.53 seconds.
Nanyang Primary’s D girls’ quartet of Mindy Foo, Carlyne Li, Celeste Li and Lau Jia Shuen boasted three current record holders (300m, 600m, 60m hurdles), and they used their advantage to rise above their competitors. Their nearest competitor was Sembawang Primary, who came in almost three seconds behind with a time of 1 minute 2.15 seconds.
The final day of competition will be held on Tuesday, April 30 at Bishan Stadium.
