Singapore Sports School, Tuesday, April 23, 2013 — Dylan Koo of Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) bettered his own meet record to win the C Division boys’ 50 metres butterfly final at the 54th National Schools Swimming Championships in a time of 26.49 seconds.

Previously, he had beaten national record holder Joseph Schooling’s time of 27.03s with a 26.61s effort in the heats.

“I hope to compete in the Olympics one day and win a medal. The journey is arduous, but I’m not daunted. I want to thank my family for being with me every step of the way in this journey; my school, coach and friends for believing in me. I am truly blessed,” said the thankful 13-year-old.

Dylan added: “Swimming keeps me alive; it’s my passion. I can’t imagine not swimming.”

Meanwhile, Wong Jun Bin of Singapore Sports School took home the silver with a time of 27.86s, with Ethan Ong of Raffles Institution edging out schoolmate Jonathan Lee to take the bronze in 28.18s.
