Singapore, Wednesday, June 19, 2013 – The National Environment Agency (NEA) has issued a press release to advise that all outdoor sports activities should be cancelled if the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) shows a reading of above 100.

The statement said that “all outdoor sports activities organised by SSC (Singapore Sports Council) will be cancelled/postponed”.

For primary, secondary and pre-university students, the NEA statement said: “Outdoor physical activities, physical education lessons, sports and games to be cancelled”.

According to the statement, “187 and 173 hotspots were detected over Sumatra on 18 and 19 June 2013 respectively”. NEA expect the current wind conditions to remain and the haze will persist.
