Clementi Sports Hall, Monday, July 22, 2013 — Yuan Ching Secondary beat Westwood Secondary 43–38 in Round 1 of the West Zone C Division Basketball Championship.
After losing their first game 25–36 to Kranji, Yuan Ching picked themselves up to win every game after. They needed to beat Westwood by 11 points to qualify for Round 2 but fell short with only a five-point victory.
The win gave Yuan Ching a 4–1 win-loss record while this first loss for Westwood dropped them to 4–1. With Kranji Secondary also finishing with a 4–1 record and the three teams tied on points, it was Yuan Ching who missed out on the second round after taking into account the points difference in their head-to-head matchups.
Shawn Chia (#5) helped claim Yuan Ching’s victory by scoring a game-high of 18 points. Wong Joong Rong (#14) of Westwood followed closely behind by contributing 16 points to his team.
