Bukit Merah Secondary School, Thursday, February 20, 2014 — Assumption English School (AES) rode a strong first period to beat Bukit View Secondary (BVSS) 8–2 in the National B Division Floorball Girls Championship. Wang Cui Ru (AES #33) led all scorers with a hat-trick.
Assumption English are now top of Group J with a 2–0 win–loss record, while Bukit View drop to 0–2.
The first period was tough for Bukit View. They were unable to get into a rhythm as their passes were swiftly intercepted by Assumption players. Assumption scored a few goals as a result of intercepts, contributing to their comfortable 6–0 lead at the end of the period.
Bukit View had a brief respite in the second period, Yun Xuan (BVSS #28) scored a screamer from long range to pull one back for her team. Both teams could not create any concrete chances on goal in this quarter as they continuously lobbed long balls forward with no target in sight. Cui Ru (AES #33) nabbed another goal when she found herself at the end of a good play to slot the ball home.
The final period was back and forth between both teams. None of them were aggressive enough to make any strong attempt on goal. Thus, Assumption managed to hold Bukit View down for the rest of the game, taking the 8–1 win.
