Bukit Merah Secondary School, Thursday, February 27, 2014 — Pei Hwa Secondary notched its first win in the first round of the National Girls B Division Floorball Championship, beating Holy Innocents’ High 10–2. Esther Fang (Pei Hwa #8) scored a hat-trick to lead her team.
Pei Hwa now move up to joint-second in Group H with a 1–1 win–loss record, tied with Kent Ridge Secondary. Bedok Town drop to bottom of the group after previously drawing with Bedok Town Secondary.
Pei Hwa scored two quick goals to start the game, courtesy of Esther (Pei Hwa #8) and Nurul Azila (Pei Hwa #15). They would continue to pound on the Holy Innocents’ goal throughout the period. This made it hard for Holy Innocents’ to muster any sort of offence.
The second period saw better defence from Holy Innocents’. However, Pei Hwa still managed to put one past them. A Pei Hwa shot ricocheted off Jasmin Tan (HIHS #8) for an own goal. Claudia Lim (HIHS #9) managed to score a consolation goal.
The Holy Innocents’ keeper had a hard time in the final period, as every shot seemingly went in despite her best efforts. Pei Hwa did enough throughout the period to secure its first win of the season, ending the game 10–2 victors.
