Republic Polytechnic Sports Complex, Saturday, March 29, 2014 – The Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) beat National University of Singapore (NUS) 18–10 in the semi-finals of the Tertiary Women’s Tchoukball Championship.
SIM led 10–3 at half time.
SIM scored three points within the first two minutes. After several unsuccessful throws, NUS managed to score their first point when SIM defenders could not secure the rebound.
NUS did not manage to defend SIM’s subsequent two attacks and allowed their opponent to score an additional two points. A long ball pass from the far right of the court to Ye Yimei (SIM #7) saw her make a successful attack, giving her team a 6–1 lead.
Despite heightened defence from NUS, SIM scored three additional points to bring the score to 9–1. NUS then made their second successful throw in the seventh minute, but SIM replied quickly with another point after gaining possession of the ball. NUS managed a third point right before the nine minutes was up for first half.
After SIM scored the first point for the second half, NUS scored three straight points to cut the deficit to five points (6–11). NUS cut it down even further to two points, with one point awarded when one of SIM’s throws missed the frame. However, SIM managed another seven successive throws to pull away to 18–9 with 60 seconds left. A final NUS point could not stop the inevitable.
