Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Thursday, April 10, 2014 — Clarice Mak of Victoria Junior College (VJC) defended her girls’ A Division 400 metres hurdles title with a new personal best of 1 minute 7.77 seconds at the 55th National Inter-School Track & Field Championships.
Magdalene Ho of Hwa Chong Institution finished second with a timing of 1:08.45, while VJC’s Shannon Chan finished third in 1:09.80, the fastest third-placed time in the history of this event and division at these championships.
The two-time A Division 400m hurdles gold medallist commented, “I feel very happy. I wanted this but I was not really expecting it. I am glad that I ended off the season well. I want to thank my coaches and teachers-in-charge for their support.”
Miriam Lee, then of National Junior College, set the electronically-timed record of 1:06.42 in 2002. Norshidah Mohd Ali of Siglap Secondary set the hand-timed record of 1:05.8 in 1984.
