Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Friday, April 11, 2014 — Nurul Natasha of Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary defended her girls’ B Division 400m title with a timing of 1 minute and 0.58 seconds at the 55th National Inter-School Track & Field Championships.
It is a new personal best for the 15-year-old, who ran below 61 seconds for the first time. “I am really very happy and proud of myself. I want to thank my coach, parents, teachers and friends, especially all my training partners,” commented the Ahmad Ibrahim student.
Nurul Natasha’s run went below the Youth Olympic Games Asian Area Qualification mark 60.98s.
Amirah Aljunied of CHIJ (Toa Payoh) finished second in 1:01.26, while Nanyang Girls’ Pan Xin-Min came in third in 1:01.32. Both were PBs as well.
The B Division 400m record is 57.11s and was set by Singapore Sports School alumna, T Piriyah, in 2008.
Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School’s Natalie Soh finished eighth. She is the first Schools’ cross country individual winner to attempt the 400m at the Schools’ track and field meet since 2003, when Cassondra Tioh, who ran under the CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School banner, finished second.
