Bishan Stadium, Wednesday, March 26, 2014 — Reuben Lee of Temasek Primary set a new record in the C Boys’ 600m Heats at the 55th National Inter-Primary School Track and Field Championships. His timing of 1 minute 43.03 seconds shaved almost 0.5 seconds off the 2010 record of 1 minutes 43.49 seconds set by Gary Wee of Greenwood Primary. Reuben now holds the D, C, and B Boys’ 600m records.
Rohan Verma of Northland Primary set a new record in the C Boys’ Shot Put when his attempt of 12.64m at the 55th National Inter-Primary School Track & Field Championships broke the standing record of 12.29m set by Temasek Primary’s Leslie Teng in 2007.
Rohan, the current holder of the D Boys’ record, eclipsed his competition, with his attempt almost 1.5m further than the 11.04m of Jason Lew from Nanyang Primary. Muhammad Asy’Ari of Gongshang Primary was third with his attempt of 9.98m while Joash Chow of Anglo-Chinese School (Primary) was fourth with his attempt of 9.45m.
In the D Boys’ High Jump, Gideon Peters of St Stephen School narrowly edged out his competitors when he cleared 1.17m. Despite a good showing, Mikhail bin Mohammad Farek of Temasek Primary finished second with a 1.15m attempt. Goh Wei Kai of Gongshang Primary was third with a jump of 1.11m while Tierman Patrick of St Joseph’s Institution (Junior) finished fourth after a count back despite also clearing 1.11m.
In the B Boys’ Long Jump, Tedd Toh of Red Swastika School took the gold with his jump of 4.94m. Joel Tan of St Stephen’s School was second with an attempt of 4.87m while Chua Zhi Lii of Gongshang Primary was third with his jump of 4.71m. Matz Chan of Nanyang Primary was fourth with a jump of 4.47m.
