Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 — Ismi Zakiah of Singapore Sports School clinched the girls’ C Division 100m gold medal with a timing of 13.14 seconds at the 55th National Inter-School Track & Field Championships.

Portia Tan of Singapore Sports School came in second with a timing of 13.37 seconds, while Tanisha Moghe of Cedar Girls’ Secondary finished third in 13.54 seconds to improve on last year’s fourth position.

Ismi also came in first in last year’s edition with a timing of 12.76 seconds. She said immediately after the race, “Same thing as my 200m, after all the heats and semi-finals, I managed to win the final, I’m so proud. I hope I get a good timing. Most of all, I want to thank my coach, and my parents and my friends who supported me. And all my teachers.”

Ismi’s win completed a second 100m-200m double win in two years. Other female athletes who have won two 100m and 200m crowns each in the C Division in the last 25 years are Tan Shieh Li (1994-1995) and Otelli Edwards (1991-1992).

The C Division 100m electronically-timed record of 12.74 seconds was set in 2012 by Singapore Sports School alumnus, Nur Izlyn. The 1993 hand-timed mark of 12.6s is held by ex-Raffles Girls’ School runner Lim Joo Lee.
