Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 — Kennard Chin of Raffles Institution won the A Division 100m final in a time of 11.23 seconds at the 55th National Inter-School Track & Field Championships. Raymond Scott Lee of Hwa Chong Institution finished second in 11.36s, while RI’s Ang Ding Hui was third in 11.40s.

Kennard led from start to finish and emerged with a convincing win over his ex-St Joseph’s Institution schoolmate Raymond, who was expected to challenge for top honours. A less-than-ideal start cost Raymond, who is also the 400m hurdles champion and has a 100m personal best of 11.19s.

Kennard, who broke his PB of 11.29 set in the heats and semi-finals, said, “It’s amazing to win! I didn’t do really well in the 200m and it was a setback to me initially. I want to thank all those who have been supporting me through my trainings.”

Donovan Chan, then of HCI, set the A Division record of 10.70s in 2012.
