Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 — Jay Choo, Joel Ho, Muhd Nur Haqim and Muhd Syazani of Singapore Sports School raced to first place with a timing of 43.61 seconds to clinch gold in the boys’ B Division 4×100 metres relay final at the 55th National Inter-School Track & Field Championships.
Nur Haqim gave SSP an unassailable lead with his run on the second bend, and Syazani fended off the challenge of Raffles Institution’s Muhd Hariz Darajit, who had beaten Syazani in the 100m final earlier in the afternoon, to win SSP’s fourth straight sprint relay title.
RI were second in 44.17 seconds, while Victoria School won the battle for third in 45.39s, with only 0.13 seconds separating them and sixth-placed St Patrick’s School.
The SSP team commented, “It was awesome and we really worked together to finish this together, and we would like to appreciate our other teammates today who supported us, and our coach.”
The B Division record is 42.58 seconds, set by Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) in 2010.
