Republic Polytechnic, Wednesday, May 14, 2014 — Nanyang Junior College (NJC) ended their season with a 54–33 win over Serangoon Junior College (SRJC) in the National A Division Netball Championship. Both teams did not qualify for the semi-final prior to this match.

Both teams did well to maintain their possession in the first quarter. NYJC’s Goal Shooter had a really good early game, as she made her first five shots to give her team the lead. SRJC were plagued by bad shooting in their semi-circle, which allowed NYJC to pull away.

The second quarter saw NYJC continue to take apart SRJC’s defence. The NYJC players did well to run into space and also did well to feed the ball to their Goal Shooter. The SRJC Goal Keeper and Goal Defence could not find a way to stop the NYJC Goal Shooter at all.

SRJC’s offence started to smooth out in the third period, as they put up their first double-digit points total in the game. However, NYJC still found a way to outscore them in the period.

NYJC were able to close out in the final period, keeping their consistent scoring to seal the 54–33 win. They finish their season with a 1–2 record in Round 2.

NYJC captain, Ricia, said, “It is our last match of the season and we wanted to play our best to end of on a good note. We had only a few problems and I am happy that we fought hard today. SRJC were also tough opponents and they made a commendable effort today.”
