Victoria Junior College, Thursday, May 15, 2014 — Victoria Junior College (VJC) and Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) drew 1–1 in the second round of the National A Division Football Championship.
Both teams, who have an identical record of six wins and two draws, advance to the semi-finals.
Dominic Ho (VJC #19) and Boris Wee (ACJC #7) scored for their respective teams.
Early in the game, Kang Seong Soo (ACJC #9) attempted to shot at the goal but it was saved by the VJC keeper.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first half, with neither team being able to score any goals.
In the second half, Boris Wee (ACJC #7) scored the first goal of the game in the 66th minute to give ACJC a 1–0 lead.
Soon after, Dominic Ho (VJC #19) equalised off a header from a corner kick.
VJC captain, Yeoh Lai Hsin (#13) said, “ACJC played well. I think a draw is a fair result. We felt pressured when we were down by one goal but we worked together and we were able to come back and score the equaliser.”
ACJC captain Muhammad Farhan (ACJC #23), said, “It felt good. The team played better today compared to our previous games. A draw was all we needed. We remained confident and played till the end.”
