Republic Polytechnic, Friday, May 16, 2014 — Temasek Junior College (TJC) secured their second win in three matches after defeating Catholic Junior College (CJC) 5–2 in the preliminary round of the National A Division Boys Floorball Championship.

This is TJC’s second win after a loss to Victoria Junior College (VJC) in their opening match and a 3–0 win over River Valley High (RVHS). CJC, on the other hand, experienced their third loss of the season.

The first period saw TJC dominating the possession and persistently attempt shots at goal. TJC easily found four goals minutes apart to take a 4–0 lead by the end of the first period.

Despite the four-goal deficit, CJC displayed an outstanding performance in the second period and managed to find the back of the TJC’s goal through their captain, Yash Indru Khemaney (CJC #20), who scored the sole goal of the second period.

While TJC continued to take advantage of their proficient stick work, CJC capitalize on their counter attacks and momentary lapses of the TJC defence in the last period.

TJC also began to give away free-hits to CJC. Eventually, CJC managed to convert one of the free-hits and scored through Louis Chia (CJC #66). However, TJC quickly replied to ensure they won a comfortable 5–2 victory.

CJC’s captain, Yash Indru Khemaney (CJC #20), commented, “We had a much better game as compared to the previous matches. Even though we were trailing, we continued to push on and had fun at the same time.”

TJC captain Gavin Ng (TJC #14) also felt that his team had a better performance during the match. “We had a better game today but we were definitely expecting more goals and better passes during the match. Nonetheless, it was still a good result.”

Both teams are left with three more matches each in the group stage. TJC will be up against Pioneer Junior College (PJC), Raffles Institution (RI) and National Junior College (NJC) while CJC will be facing Victoria Junior College (VJC), Pioneer Junior College (PJC) and National Junior College (NJC).
