OCBC Aquatic Center, Wednesday, June 18, 2014 — Singapore (SIN) clinched gold with a 6–5 victory over Thailand in the final of the Southeast Asian Swimming Championships 2014.
Both teams met previously in the opener where Singapore went down 4–6 to Thailand.
Thailand’s Kornkarn Puengpongsakul (#6) led all scorers with two goals. Gina Koh (#2), Mary Kan (#4), Adelyn Yew (#5), Lynnette Jean Tan (#8), Loke En Yuan (#9) and Denise Chen (#10) contributed a goal each for Singapore.
Both teams appeared to be evenly-matched as they matched each other point for point through the first three periods.
With about two minutes to play in the fourth, Thailand received a double exclusion. Singapore’s Lynnette Jane Tan (#8) capitalized on the advantage to score and seal the 6–5 victory against the Thais.
