Singapore Basketball Centre, Friday, July 4, 2014 — Seng Kang Secondary (SKSS) defeated Pei Hwa Secondary School (PHSS) 59–34 in their second game of the first round of the North Zone C Division Boys’ Basketball Championship.

Seng Kang have a 2–0 win-loss record, while Pei Hwa have a 1–1 win-loss record.

Noel Teo (SKSS #13) led all scorers with 20 points while teammate Keane Liew (SKSS #12) had 17 points.

In the first quarter, the game took off fast. Seng Kang managed to take the 16–8 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Seng Kang played relatively well in the second quarter, as they took every chance they had under basket. They had many good interceptions as well. They managed to widen the score difference in the second quarter, taking a 34–13 lead.

PHSS (#9) scored eight points out of Pei Hwa’s 10 points in the third quarter. He performed well for his team with multiple layups and accurate shots throughout the game, which managed to bring up the score for his team. Seng Kang’s strong defence and fast offence gave them an eventual 59–34 win.

Seng Kang will next play Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary, while Pei Hwa will play Fu Chun Secondary on Tuesday, July 8. Both games will be played at the Singapore Basketball Centre.

Top scorer, Noel Teo (SKSS #13), commented, “The team played well. I never expected I’d be the top scorer but I’m still not satisfied with my performance and hope I’ll do better the next few games.”

Seng Kang captain, Keane Liew (#12) commented, “Both teams played well. I also think that my team did well, but it is not our best. My team needs to improve more on our defence, offence, as well as communication.”
