Singapore Basketball Centre, Wednesday, 30 July, 2014 — Seng Kang Secondary (SKS) held the lead throughout the game to defeat North Vista Secondary (NVS) 61–53 in the final of the North Zone C Division Boys’ Basketball Championship.

Keane Liew (SKS #12) led all scorers with 24 points, while Cletus Ng (NVS #6) had 23 points for his team.

In the first quarter, Seng Kang managed to widen the score difference through their defence. Seng Kang took a 20–7 lead at the end of the quarter.

In the second quarter, North Vista tried to narrow down the score difference, but Keane Liew (SKS #12) had many successful layups to keep Seng Kang in the lead.

In the second half, North Vista executed good teamwork and stepped up to reduce the deficit. Cletus Ng (NVS #6) had 19 points in the half for his team. Tiong Chuan Yao (NVS #10) added multiple successful layups through several steals.

In the last few minutes of the fourth quarter, North Vista managed to reduce the deficit to a single digit, but Seng Kang played a tight man-to-man defence and denied North Vista any scoring chances. Seng Kang held on for the 61–53 win to clinch their first zonal championship since 2011.

Top scorer, Keane Liew (SKS #12) commented, “The game was rather difficult and intense as both team played very hard and fought hard for rebounds and loose balls. I think this game was the best game as my team showed a lot of teamwork and we showed that being united can help us win the game. I think my performance was quite good, and I’m just a bit weaker in my defence. Thanks to my team’s support, I managed to pull through. I think we can improve on our shooting, free throws and rebounds as well as communication for the nationals.”
