Singapore Sports Hub, Friday, August 15, 2014 – Juventus Football Club engaged in an open training session at the National Stadium before their game against the Singapore Selection, which will take place on Saturday, August 16.
Juventus’ captain Gianluigi Buffon trained alongside teammates Andrea Pirlo, Carlos Tevez and others on the pitch.
Lim Liang Yi, head of the Juventus FC Supporters’ Club, led the fans during the practice session. He has been a supporter since 2004 and set up the Supporters’ Club back in 2008 together with Farah, Chris Lim and Lim Jun Rong.
When asked about his favourite player, Liang Yi said, “Del Piero, it has to be Del Piero. He has always been the flagbearer of the club both on and off the pitch, and he has been the top scorer for Juventus. Juventus display a different type of spirit. The unique thing about Juventus is always the fighting spirit. You can ask anybody in Italy, they will tell you, Juventus is famous for fighting til the end. That’s one of our slogan, “Fino alla fine”, which means fighting til the end.”
In the stands was also Danial Ali, 17, who was there to watch Paul Pogba of Juventus. “I see him as a very different technical player, in his dribbling, the way he passes the ball, and defensive skills. Although people may think that a player like him is fancy and may lose the ball easily, but that’s not the case for me. One key advantage for him is that he’s tall. He passes the ball nicely and is strong in the air. He’s talented and young.”
Duc Anh Duong, 32, flew all the way from Vietnam with 30 other friends to catch a glimpse of the open training session. He last watched Juventus ‘live’ in 1996, and has been a fan then on. “I like their tactics, and I feel like I’m a part of them. I love their tactical approach and that they are result oriented. They are different from the teams in the Premier League, so we really love Serie A and Juventus.”
Juventus Football Club will be up against a Singapore Selection at the National Stadium at 6pm.
