Jurong East Sports Hall, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 — Nanyang Girls’ High defeated Nan Hua High 32–24 to finish in third place in the West Zone C Division Netball Championship.
Nanyang Girls’ got off to a quick 4–1 start, but their own unforced errors allowed Nan Hua to catch up and reduce the deficit to two points at the end of the opening quarter.
Both teams enjoyed a higher scoring output in the following quarter, but Nanyang Girls’ defence was the highlight of the quarter. They forced multiple turnovers and collected several offensive rebounds to bolster their lead to six points.
Lacklustre defence by Nanyang Girls’ allowed Nan Hua’s goal shooter Lou Sukuan to reduce the deficit to two points at the start of the second half.
However, Nanyang Girls’ had an answer in their own goal shooter, Dyllis Liang, who towered over Nan Hua defenders Koay Miao Rong and Chuah Min Yi. Nanyang Girls’ opted for lob passes to Liang, who easily converted to extend their lead.
Nan Hua stepped up on defence in the final frame, but could not overcome Nanyang’s duo of Liang and Beverly Lam, as the pair combined for an 8–5 run to seal the victory.
