Bukit Gombak Stadium, Thursday, April 9, 2015 — Singapore Sports School’s Cepheaus Chee (#146) hopped, stepped and jumped to the B Division boys’ triple jump gold with a distance of 13.65 metres at the 56th National Inter-School Track and Field Championships.
“Last year at this time, I was jumping at two metres behind everyone,” said the 16-year-old, who did not even make a top 10 finish in last year’s event.
“I’m very thankful for the win and I have a lot of people to thank for that. My coach, my teammates such as Dylan and Adlan, we have always pushed each other on.”
This is Chee’s first B Division title. In last year’s event, the Singapore Sports School student did not make a top 10 finish. “I’m very thankful to everyone who saw potential in me, and didn’t give up on me when I did badly last year,” said Chee (#146).
Chee’s (#146) teammate, Dylan Wong (#151), won the title last year and currently holds the meet record of 14.27m. Nursing a back injury, Wong (#151) was unable to replicate his performance and settled for the silver medal with a distance of 13.35m.
Adlan Syaddad (#145) completed the podium sweep for Singapore Sports School with 13.23m.
