Clementi Sports Hall, Monday, April 13, 2015 — A buzzer-beating and-one basket by Tan Li Wen (#14) upset defending champions Dunman Secondary 58–57 and sent Nanyang Girls’ High into the final of the National B Division Girls’ Basketball Championship.

Han Xing Yue (#11) led Nanyang Girls’ with 16 points, while teammates Tan Qi Qing (#12) and Tan Li Wen (#14) scored 15 and 11 points respectively. Dunman were led by a 21-point effort from Marsha Folkoff (#8), while Nur Khaliesah (#9) and Belinda Chong (#6) added 15 and 10 points respectively.

Both teams were neck-and-neck heading into the second half, but Dunman had the slight edge with a slim four-point lead.

In the third quarter, both teams exchanged baskets as neither team were willing to relinquish the crucial final berth.

The turning point of the game came in the final quarter.

With about two minutes remaining, Nanyang Girls’ took their first lead of the second half through a basket from Tan Qi Qing (#12) and a pair of free throws from Charmian Cheah (#13). Dunman quickly responded with two quick baskets from Marsha Folkoff (#8) and Nur Khaliesah (#9), to reinstate their lead.

However, Dunman’s lead was short-lived as Nanyang Girls’, riding on their newfound momentum, tied the game with a Natasha Ng (#9) three-pointer. Both teams went back and forth until a free throw by Nur Khaliesah (#9) gave Dunman the 57–55 lead.

When the game was thought to be over, Tan Li Wen (#14) came up huge in the dying moments to knock down an and-one basket, tying the game and sending her to the charity stripe at the buzzer.

With a spot in the final on the line, a calm and collected Tan Li Wen (#14) sank the decisive free throw to complete her three-point play and send Nanyang Girls’ into the final.
