Singapore Basketball Centre, Friday, April 24, 2015 — Catholic Junior College (CJC) kept the game close but eventually fell 33–52 to a better Tampines Junior College (TPJC) in the preliminary round of the National A Division Basketball Championship.

With the win over CJC, TPJC now have a 2–2 win-loss record.

TPJC were led by key players Bryan (TPJC #15), Kaiser (TPJC #7) and Yun Ting (TPJC #10) with 15, 15 and 10 points respectively. Shi Jun (CJC #8) scored a game-high 20 points but did not get much help from his teammates as they fell to TPJC.

The first quarter was low scoring with both teams searching for their rhythm offensively.

A layup off the glass in transition by Shi Jun (CJC #8) tied the game at 11–11 apiece midway through the second quarter.

On the next play, Bryan (TPJC #15) made a three-point play to give TPJC a slight lead over CJC. TPJC held the upper hand after the play, staying ahead of CJC.

Shi Jun (CJC #8) and Gerald (CJC #12) answered with layups of their own to tie the game at 18 apiece late in the second quarter.

With the clock winding down, CJC gave up a three-ponter to Delbert (TPJC #8) in the final seconds of the second quarter to trail 18–21.

TPJC had an edge over CJC in the second half with a more experienced roster. Bryan (TPJC #15) and the rest of his team showed their presence in the fourth quarter, taking control and eventually closed out the game with a score of 52–33.

TPJC captain, Kaiser (#7), commented, “I am happy that I can actually lead my team well. We have been training hard a few months prior to the competition and built a strong bond within the team. With the bond that we have as a team, we are able to understand one another and communicate well on the court.”

He added, “Our final game will be against TJC and I feel that it will be a 50-50 game.”

TPJC will take on TJC on Monday, April 27, at Clementi Sport Hall at 1 p.m.
