Marina Bay Sands Hall D, Friday, December 4, 2015 — Singapore’s goalball team fell 5-7 to Myanmar in their opening match of the first preliminary round, despite taking an early 2-0 lead.
Myanmar managed to hold their ground and score two goals consecutively to even out the score midway through the first half. After that, Myanmar secured the lead throughout the match. Singapore tried to rally back and managed to cut Myanmar’s lead to one, with 02:11 left on the clock. However, a ten-second penalty for Singapore resulted in a successful penalty throw by Myanmar.
When asked whether it was a pity they lost the game, despite leading 2-0 early in the game, the Womens’ Goalball coach, Nikita Sarda, said, “It’s okay, it happens. But our motto is just to let it go, we got to focus on other games.”
“Other teams are actually quite strong, and we got to prepare ourselves for what is coming,” said coach Nikita.
“We are doing this, not only for ourselves, but also for Singapore,” added Grace Ng (SIN #9).
