OCBC Arena, Friday, January 22, 2016 — Fairfield Methodist School’s strength in depth was on display as they defeated Bishan Park Secondary 58-15 in the South Zone B Division Basketball Championship.

Fairfield had nine players on the scoresheet as they remained unbeaten after two games. Bishan Park were handed their first loss of the season after their opening win over St. Andrew’s Secondary.

Xavier Ng (#13) of Fairfield led all scorers with 13 points while Lim Shi Zuo (#11) of Bishan Park had seven points in the loss.

With Fairfield up 2-0 early in the game, Lim Shi Zuo (BP #11) nailed a jumper to tie the game. Yet that was the only made basket by Bishan Park in the 1st quarter, as Fairfield went on a 20-0 run in the last nine minutes of the quarter and threatened to run away with the game.

Bishan Park responded well in the 2nd quarter, holding their opponents to 10 points. Fairfield led 32-6 at the half.

Lim Shi Zuo (#11) got Bishan Park off to a fine start in the 3rd quarter by sinking a three-pointer. Fairfield continued to dominate the game despite going deep into their rotation, with all players getting a run-in.

Timothy Har (#4) of Fairfield connected on a three-point attempt late in the 3rd quarter to put Fairfield up by 34 heading into the final quarter.

Following a timeout by Bishan Park, Fairfield used a full court press to score six quick unanswered points to lead 58-11 with six minutes still to play.

Despite being scoreless for the remainder of the game, Fairfield emerged with a 43-point, 58-15 victory and improved to 2-0 for the season.

Fairfield captain, Justin Lum (#7), said, “I think we shared the ball more and showed better teamwork than our opponents.”

Fairfield will next take on Guangyang Secondary, with the winners likely to take top spot in Group A. This highly-anticipated clash will take place on January 28 at OCBC Arena.
