Republic Polytechnic, Wednesday, February 3, 2016 — North Vista Secondary clinched their second straight victory in the North Zone B Division Netball Championship preliminary round as they cruised past Admiralty Secondary 49–8.
They had earlier beaten Hougang Secondary 34–14 in their opening match.
For Admiralty, this was their fifth match and worsens their win-loss record to 1–4, which eliminates any chance of them making Round 2.
North Vista burst out of the blocks in the first quarter, racing into an 11–0 lead. Their agility and swift passing on the court was comparably better than Admiralty but what stood out was their ruthless efficiency inside the attacking semi-circle.
North Vista scored at least 11 points in each of the quarters thereafter to put the game to bed, while Admiralty managed to eke out only eight points in total from their already limited chances.
North Vista’s prolific shooting was down to the assured performance of Goal Shooter (GS) Ilona. In the last two quarters, she sunk 17 of her 20 shots.
On her team’s performance, North Vista captain Jodie Teo, who played at Wing Defence (WD) and Goal Defence (GD), commented, “I think my team did great. We encouraged one another and pushed one another. The keys to our game were strong communication and executing a fast game play.”
North Vista will look for their third win against Canberra Secondary on Friday, February 12 while Admiralty will meet Hougang Secondary on the same day. Both matches will be played at Republic Polytechnic.
