Singapore Basketball Centre, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 — North Vista Secondary hit the century mark for the third time this season as they dispatched Bowen Secondary 105-45 to win back-to-back titles in the North Zone B Division Basketball Championship.
North Vista’s starting backcourt shined once again as Christian Pepito (#19) scored a game-high 23 points while Sim Xuan (#2) added 17 points.
Wilbur Tan (#14) dropped a team-high 15 points for Bowen and was the only player to score in double figures for the team in blue.
Nicholas Tay (NV #6) hit a 3-pointer with the shot clock expiring to score the first basket of the final. A quick 7-0 run then put North Vista up 16-4 and prompted a timeout by Bowen. North Vista led 23-9 after one and were clearly in the mood for more.
The defending champions continued to dominate proceedings when play resumed. Cheng Ye Hui (NV #7) scored 10 of his 18 total points in the 2nd quarter and his relentless pursuit of offensive rebounds led to many second-chance points for his team in the entire game.
North Vista racked up 75 points after three quarters and were on pace to break the 100-point barrier for the first time since doing so in the 1st round.
With victory all but secured, North Vista handed their reserves playing time in the 4th quarter. They stuck to the task brilliantly, pouring in 30 points and put Bowen to the sword with a 60-point victory.
Lim Joe Yang (#1) hit two 3-pointers in the final quarter as the champions knocked down an impressive 10 3-pointers in the game, with Christian Pepito (NV #19) responsible for five of them.
Catholic High School clinched 3rd place in the Championship after defeating Woodgrove Secondary 76-55 in the 3rd/4th placing match. The top 4 finishers will all be participating in the National B Division Basketball Championship which begins later this month.
