Bishan Stadium, Friday, April 22, 2016 — Tia Louise Rozario of Singapore Sports School leapt an impressive 5.55 metres to win the B Division Girls’ long jump gold at the 57th National Schools Track and Field Championships.

Tan Jing Wei (5.04m) and Rachel Loh (4.98m), both of Cedar Girls’ Secondary, came in second and third respectively.

Tia’s winning distance fell marginally short of the 5.56m championship record she had set last year. This was Tia’s third long jump gold in a row, after she had also won in the C Division in 2014 with a 5.23m jump.

At the same time, this was Tia’s second gold of this year’s Championships, after she had won the 100m hurdles event three days earlier.

Tia could not be reached for an interview, as she had left the venue early to fly off to Thailand, where she was due to compete in the 11th South-east Asian (SEA) Youth Athletics Championships, held at Thammasat University Sports Complex over the weekend.

As of Saturday, April 23, Tia had won a gold medal for Team Singapore in the long jump with a huge 5.86m jump.
