Hougang Sports Hall, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 – Nanyang Junior College (NYJC) defeated Temasek Junior College (TJC) 8-6 to end their season with a win in the National A Division Floorball Championship.
Clement Goh (NYJC #17) was the top scorer with four goals.
With this win, NYJC improved to a 3-3 win loss record and finished fourth in their group. For TJC, this was their fifth loss, although they were on course for a win over River Valley High on Monday, May 16, when their game was abandoned with seven minutes to go because the roof leaked. TJC were leading 7-2 at the time.
Donavan Tan (NYJC #71) scored the first goal just 45 seconds into the game. Ng Jun Kai (#29) equalised when he put the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.
Tan Le Jun (NYJC #37) then wrestled the lead back when he drove the ball into the goal from the side after an assist from a teammate. NYJC went 3-1 up when Clement Goh (NYJC #17) showed ball control skills as he dribbled and scored from mid court.
TJC shocked NYJC with two quick goals just 15 seconds into the second period through Joshua Ong (TJC #24) and Linus Foo (#55) to level at 3-3. However, NYJC pulled away as Clement (NYJC #17) went on to score three goals and Donavan (NYJC #71) added another to secure a 7-3 lead at the end of the second period.
TJC had the better of the last period. Five minutes in, Daniel Wong (TJC #25) unleashed a long range drag shot from mid court, making it 4-7. Andre Gwa (NYJC #87) retaliated by hitting a shot into the top right corner of the net, widening the score to 8-4.
Joshua Ong (TJC #24) and Ong Pin Quan (TJC #6) had one each in a last-ditch attempt but TJC could not stop NYJC from wrapping up the 8-6 win.
