ITE College East, Wednesday, January 7, 2009 – The Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) fielded national shuttlers Ronald Susilo and Kendrick Lee but still fell 2-3 to the National University of Singapore (NUS) in a Group A match of the Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Badminton Championship.

Ronald made short work of Tan Rui Sheng of NUS (21-6, 21-7) while Kendrick beat Mok Zhi Rong (21-10, 21-6).

Darrell Lee and Desmond Ong of SIM then fell 19-21, 16-21 to Wilson Kan and Terence Chen of NUS to lose the most important point of the match to NUS.

SIM, missing the services of national shuttler Derrick Wong, finished second in last year’s championship.

Ronald Susilo and Kendrick Lee, with an eye to the future, are transiting out of the national badminton setup and are pursuing their studies at SIM.
