Presbyterian High School, Thursday, March 24, 2011 — Defending champions Dunman Secondary are one step closer to retaining their title after earning a spot in the semi-finals of the National B Division Girls’ Volleyball Championship. Dunman beat Fairfield Methodist 2-0 (25-17, 25-21) in their Group Y, Round Two match.
Dunman started the set with a lead. Despite Fairfield’s attempts, they were unable to close in as Dunman quickly pulled forward to lead 20-13. Fairfield managed to score several points subsequently, but could not stop Dunman from taking the set 25-17.
In the second set, Fairfield held Dunman for the early part of the set. However, once again they saw Dunman running off with the lead. Despite Fairfield’s attempt to close in in the final part of the set, they were unable to stage an upset and saw Dunman win 25-21.
Fairfield Methodist will face Presbyterian High in a do-or-die match on Monday. Whoever emerges victorious will progress into the next round.
