Republic Polytechnic, Saturday, July 2, 2011 — St. Andrew’s Secondary began their 2011 National C Division Rugby Championship campaign with an 84-0 win over Greenridge Secondary School.

By half time, SAS had a lead of 22-0 with four tries and one successful conversion. Greenridge struggled in the second half, giving the Saints further scoring opportunities and the mercy rule was eventually applied when the score hit 80.

SAS scored a total of 14 tries and seven conversions.

“I feel that we have played as a team and we’ve put on a tough fight. The other team played their best, but they have much to improve on,” said Jeremy Chua who scored a total of five tries.

St. Andrew’s had an advantage though. The Greenridge team consisted of Secondary 1 students while St. Andrew’s had a few other Secondary 2s.

SAS will next play Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) on July 7th, 3pm, at Republic Polytechnic.
