C Division Girls’ Basketball: Unity and Anglican High to face off in final

Clementi Sports Hall, Friday, August 12, 2011 — Anglican High and Unity Secondary won their respective semi-final matches in style to set up a meeting in the final of the National C Division Girls’ Basketball Championship. Anglican High beat the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School 51-34 while Unity swept aside Dunman Secondary 64-41.

Anglican High started off their match strongly, racing off to establish a commanding lead. Despite SCGS narrowing the scoreline in the second and third quarters, the 2010 runners-up kept up their strong performance to book themselves a place in the championship final for the second year running.

In the other semi-final, Unity showed their dominance as they kept two-time defending champions Dunman Secondary at bay. Unity made their presence felt in the paint to prevent Dunman from making their mark. Despite a spirited performance from Dunman, they were unable to prevent Unity from running off with the match.

Anglican High and Unity will meet in the final next Thursday, August 18th at the Jurong East Sports Complex. They will play at 1.30pm before the boys’ final.

Dunman will play SCGS on Wednesday, August 17th at Clementi Sports Hall in the 3rd/4th placing match. Tip off is at 1.30pm.
