CCAB, Tuesday, February 7, 2012 — With the final whistle of the day’s matches, the top four teams for the South Zone B Division Boys’ Volleyball Championship have been unveiled.

In Group A, Catholic High finished top of the group after their 2-0 win over Ang Mo Kio Secondary in their final group game. They had earlier notched 2-0 victories over Queensway Secondary, Bukit Merah Secondary and Clementi Woods Secondary. Ang Mo Kio also qualified for the semi-finals as runners-up.

The Group B results came as a surprise to many. A vastly improved Chong Boon Secondary finished top of the group after beating Fairfield Methodist Secondary 2-1 (25-17, 16-25, 25-23). Fairfield pushed them all the way and the result could have gone either way. Chong Boon had earlier scored convincing 2-0 wins over Queenstown Secondary and Zhonghua Secondary.

Fairfield qualified for the semi-finals with a convincing 2-0 victory against Zhonghua in a deciding match.

The semi-finals will be played at CCAB on Thursday, February 9th.
