National B Div Bball: North Vista secure 59-32 win over Chung Cheng High (Main)

Clementi Sports Hall, Monday, March 26, 2012 — North Vista Secondary started their National B Division Basketball Championship campaign with a 59-32 win over Chung Cheng High (Main). North Vista are the North Zone champions while Chung CHeng finished fourth in the East Zone.

North Vista opened the game with a five-point run. Jian Fu (#6) scored an open 3-pointer and then got a steal to go on a fast break to put North Vista 5-0 up. Chung Cheng came back with #13 driving straight past the defence for a lay-up.

But Chung Cheng let themselves down with the sloppy passes to allow North Vista to convert on their errors to pull away with an 8-0 run midway through the quarter to lead 15-2.

Chung Cheng called a timeout to try break North Vista’s momentum and it worked as they managed to close the deficit slightly to end the quarter trailing 9-23.

North Vista continued to extend their lead and show their dominance as zonal champions by closing out the first half 34-11 for a healthy 23-point lead over Chung Cheng. North Vista only allowed Chung Cheng to get two points in the second quarter.

After the half-time break, Chung Cheng sparked to life and managed to match North Vista point for point and they finished the third quarter outscored only 13-12.

With one quarter to go, they tried their best to conquer a huge deficit of 24 points but despite fighting till the very end, they went down to North Vista.
