Bishan Stadium, Thursday, April 12, 2012 — Tham Mei Shuen of Temasek Primary overcame a shaky start to take gold in the C-Girls High Jump event with a winning height of 1.28m at the 53rd National Inter-Primary School Track & Field Championships.
She had clipped the bar on several of her earlier attempts. Tan Wee Suan of Kong Hwa Primary, on the other hand, shaped up to be the favourite as she cleared her jumps on the first try.
Lam Zhi Zhong of Nanyang Primary also looked set to be a medal winner with a fine performance at the start. However, she faced a drop in form and failed to clear 1.20m after a bad fall left her with a niggling pain.
Tan Wee Suan eventually took second as she failed to progress beyond 1.24m. Lee Huay San from Seng Kang Primary took third after clearing a height of 1.22m. Chen Huixin of Sembawang Primary finished in fourth.
