PESEB, Friday, April 27, 2012 — Defending champions Nanyang Junior College (NYJC) swept aside Victoria JC (VJC) to win 2-0 (25-17, 25-16) in their top of the table clash in Round Two of the A Division Girls’ Volleyball Championship.
NYJC stamped their dominance on court right at the start when they raced to a 5-0 lead. Despite a timeout by VJC, NYJC continued their scoring streak to lead 11-3, prompting another timeout by VJC. Jia En (NYJC #2) took many points up front as VJC found difficulty in receiving her spikes.
Despite VJC closing the gap to 15-10, they could not overcome their deficit as NYJC raced ahead to win 25-17.
NYJC continued their fine form in the second set as they took the early lead. VJC tried hard to keep the score close, making use of NYJC’s sudden drop in form to close in 10-9. However, NYJC were unperturbed and steadily extended their lead once again.
Jody (NYJC #15) made use of her speed up front to take several points for the team, with NYJC eventually holding on to a 20-12 lead.
VJC were not going to give up easily and fought back to gain a few points. However, they could not stop NYJC as the team eventually romped to a 25-16 win.
