Singapore Basketball Centre, Monday, May 14, 2012 — Dunman High beat Raffles Institution 60-55 to seal third place in the National A Division Boys’ Basketball Championship.
Dunman High had earlier beaten RI 51-38 to secure top spot in the group and avoid a meeting with Hwa Chong Institution in the semi-finals.
Dunman High led 23-21 at half time with Raffles getting into foul trouble early, accumulating 14 team fouls to Dunman High’s six after two quarters.
Dunman High were still leading by two at 32-30 going into the fourth quarter. With 3:43 to play, Dunman High were leading by seven points at 46-39 as Raffles lost one player to foul trouble and had three on four fouls.
With 2:55 to go, the Dunman High lead was back down to three at 49-46. With 33 seconds left, RI lost their #9 to foul trouble. Then things got interesting when a RI 3-pointer gave them a 55-54 lead with only 23 seconds left.
Dunman High wrestled the lead back with 20 seconds left at 56-55. As another RI player fouled out, Dunman High closed out the game to win 60-55 in a hard-fought game.
