PESEB, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 – In a game played for pride, Balestier Hill Secondary beat Kent Ridge Secondary 51-19 even as both teams were out of the running in the South Zone C Division Boys’ Basketball Championship.
Both teams lost their two previous Group B matches, against St. Andrew’s Secondary and Queensway Secondary.
Balestier Hill dominated from the start, grabbing the first half 24-8. Kent Ridge could barely get close to the basket and had to resort to taking shots from a distance.
The Kent Ridge #4 sunk a three-pointer, but that was not enough to stop Balestier Hill from claiming victory with a 51-19 win.
With both teams heading out of the competition, both Balestier Hill and Kent Ridge played all the players for their final match.
Balestier Hill’s Bryan (#12) emerged with a game-high 18 points, while Kent Ridge #7 was the top scorer for his team with eight points.
“We played better than normal. We could have improved on teamwork and passing, but I am happy that we won the game,” said Bryan.
