The win against Malaysia proved crucial for Singapore. Our girls were trailing for three quarters before the came back in the fourth quarter to win the game.

Sri Lanka are also undefeated in four games, thrashing Hong Kong (81-38), India (64-17), Nepal (127-3) and Japan (110-8). The win over Nepal was the highest score of the competition.

“The win against Malaysia in our first match has made our road to the finals relatively easier. We are looking forward to the final but we will need to put up a strong performance to secure a win against Hong Kong first,” said co-captain Jean Ng. Lin Qingyi is Singapore’s other co-captain.

“We are one match away from the opportunity to compete in the Asian Championship final. The semi-final against Hong Kong requires a strong performance in all areas of the court,” said national coach, Kate Carpenter.

Singapore have also been awarded hosting rights for the 2014 edition of the Asian Championships which is expected to feature 10 to 12 Asian nations competing for the title. The event will also be the qualifier for the 2015 World Netball Championships which will be held in Sydney, Australia. The top two teams from the Asian Championship will qualify for Sydney.
