Republic Polytechnic, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 — North View Secondary pulled away in the second period to take out Si Ling Secondary 7–3 in the National B Division Floorball Championship.

Muhammad Harith (North View #50), Muhammad Nizamuddin (North View #33) and Nelden Kunalan (Si Ling #20) all tied for joint-top scorer honors with two goals each.

Both teams started off the game steadily, as they attempted to get a feel for each other. North View had the bulk of the possession early on, but they held it mostly in their own half. Si Ling on the other hand, managed to generate a couple of shot attempts, but were unable to convert.

The first goal came when Abdul Razak (Si Ling #26) one-timed the ball from the left wing, putting it past the keeper to score. Si Ling’s celebration were cut short, as North View immediately equalised after the face-off.

North View scored first in the second period, against the run of play. But Si Ling answered immediately, as nice passing set up Nelden Kunalan (#20) for the goal. It was a see-saw battle until North View had a power play opportunity midway through the period. With Si Ling having one player out of the game, North View capitalised with Nizamuddin (#33) scoring on the power play. Harith (#50) then added another, to give North View a comfortable 4–2 lead.

The final period saw Si Ling trying to capitalise on their chances, but they failed to convert on most of them. Their sole consolation this period saw them score on a short-handed goal, which brought cheers from the Si Ling bench. Eventually, North View wrapped up the win with a 7–3 scoreline.

North View captain, Harith (#50) said, “I think we played well today. We are very happy that we finally secured a win. We were unable to win any games last year so this is a good start. We passed the ball well and showed perseverance throughout the match. We have to improve our communication in the upcoming matches. We hope to qualify for round two as we never had the chance to do so.”
