Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 — Joshua Chua Hanwei of Raffles Institution (RI) took first place in a time of 11.66 seconds in the boys’ C Division 100m at the 55th National Inter-School Track & Field Championships.
The meet record is held by Shahrir Mohd Anuar of Singapore Sports School, who recorded a time of 11.29 seconds in 2007 to set the mark. It is also the national under-15 record.
David Tameeris of Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) was second in a time of 11.88 seconds to add to his 200m silver, while Mohammad Hafiz of Singapore Sports School clinched bronze with a time of 12.07 seconds.
Joshua said, “It feels good to win. I have to thank my coaches and teammates. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to achieve this. I was sixth last year and I improved to first this year. On top of that, I want to thank my parents and friends.”
Joshua set a 100m hurdles national under-15 mark of 13.26s when he won the gold on April 8. His 100m personal best is 11.50s clocked in the heats on April 4.
