Republic Polytechnic, Wednesday, May 21, 2014 — Millennia Institute (MI) defeated Innova Junior College (IJC) 2–1 to notch their first win in the National A Division Girls Floorball Championship.
MI now have a win and three losses while IJC have lost all four of their games so far. Both teams were out of the running for the semi-finals.
MI took the lead early in the game with Nur Ilyianah (#19) scoring a goal and Nurul Irdina (MI #9) adding a second goal a few minutes after. IJC managed to respond with a goal from Ganaban Raya (#56) before the end of the first period.
Neither teams were able to score in the second period as the score remained at 2–1.
The third period saw a foul by Divya Singh (IJC #16), which resulted in a power-play situation but IJC were unable to turn the game around and MI sealed the 2–1 victory.
MI captain, Shermane Wong (#17), said, “We know that we are not that good and we tried our best.”
Poh Wei Lin (MI #13) exclaimed, “Finally we won! We have broken the curse! I’m so happy!”
