Greendale Secondary School, Thursday, July 10, 2014 — Greendale Secondary (GDL) beat Orchid Park Secondary (OPS) 33–8 in the National C Division Softball Championship.
Orchid Park gave up 15 runs in a row by walks in the first inning, before getting the first out on a ground ball to the second baseman. Greendale scored five more runs in the first inning before giving up two outs in a row. Orchid Park came back in the bottom of the first, scoring six runs before allowing Greendale to end the inning with a strike-out.
Greendale looked to end the game by mercy rule in the second inning, scoring 13 runs. Looking to close out the game, Greendale brought in Peh Dong Xuan (GDL #41) who allowed two runs before picking up three strike-outs in a row to close the game.
Young Jian Wen (GDL #45) said, “Overall it was a good game. Everyone cheered a lot. However, it could have been better. We just hope that we won’t get trashed and that we play our best. Winning is not our priority. We just want to look back at the season and know that we did the best we could.”
