Jurong West Sports Hall, Friday, February 13, 2015 — Jurong West Secondary (JWS) defeated Dunearn Secondary (DSS) 71–30 in the second round of the West Zone B Division Boys Basketball Championship.
Sean Tiah (#9) of Jurong West lead his team with a game-high 13 points, while Sean Chew (#13) of Dunearn had a team-high 10 points.

In the second quarter, Dunearn stepped up on their offensive plays and managed to force several turnovers, coupled with fast breaks and good finishing. Good effort was seen from Dominic Chua (#4) and Aaron Chai (#8) of Dunearn as they coordinated well to put points onto the scoreboard. Dunearn managed to outscore Jurong West 13–10 in this quarter, but it was not enough to reduce the deficit. Jurong West led 31–15 going into the halftime break.
The third quarter saw Jurong West regain their composure, as they poured in 15 points in just under four minutes into the quarter. They managed to extend their lead with high shooting accuracy and strong defence, locking down Dunearn, who only managed to score four points in the quarter.
Dunearn fought hard in the final quarter and managed to put up 11 points but eventually went down 71–30 to Jurong West.
Jurong West remain undefeated in the second round, holding a 3–0 win-loss record, while Dunearn have lost their third straight game.
Jurong West’s captain, Dexter Tan (#6), said, “We did quite a good job. We would usually want to start the first few quarters strong and drag the scores apart. Our defence was strong in the first quarter but we were complacent in the second quarter. Even though this game is over and we won it, I always tell my teammates that we still start over from 0–0 for the next match.”
Dunearn’s captain, Foo Fong Kee (#7), said, “We played badly but Jurong West were really strong opponents. We did better in the second quarter. We bucked up and chased back the points. We have to work on our defence for the next games.”
Jurong West will face Tanglin Secondary at 1.45 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, while Dunearn will play Hua Yi Secondary at 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25. Both games will be played at Jurong West Sports Hall.
