Bedok Sports Hall, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 — Dunman Secondary defended their East Zone B Division Netball Championship title for the second year running after a 25–20 victory over Tanjong Katong Secondary (TKSS) in the final.
Dunman displayed outstanding teamwork and adopted a fast-paced style right from the beginning. Although TKSS were able to intercept multiple passes at midcourt, Dunman had relatively accurate passing throughout the game. Their ability to counter-attack extremely quickly was a huge threat to TKSS.
In addition, stellar shooting from Dunman’s Goal Shooter, Jia Hwee, as well as strategic passes from their Goal Attack, Wei Ping, were instrumental in Dunman’s smooth play. Deft footwork by Dunman’s Goal Shooter, Jia Hwee, allowed her to dodge effectively from her defender to score a string of goals in the first quarter. This gave Dunman a comfortable 6–3 lead in the first quarter.
Dunman’s unrelenting attacks gave them multiple goal opportunities, enabling them to double their lead to 14–8 in the second quarter.
Despite the best efforts of TKSS to narrow the score margin, they were unable to disrupt Dunman’s fluid play. Dunman showed foresight with lob passes played to spaces.
Although TKSS finally narrowed the lead to 22–16 and caught up in the fourth quarter, there was insufficient time for a comeback.
As a result, TKSS had to settle for second place while Dunman held on to their championship title.
Dunman Sec’s captain, Wei Ping, commended her team for playing well and added that it was really a team effort that gave them the win.
